Dr. Pradeep Prabhu is a consultant anaesthetist at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, with special interests in Cardiopulmonary exercise testing, risk stratification for high risk surgery and Hepatobiliary anaesthesia. He is also interested in Biomedical Ethics and has a Masters in Bioethics and Medical Law. He had his undergraduate training in Pondicherry, India and his anaesthetic training at the St. George’s school of anaesthesia.
He set up one of the first CPET clinics in the region, and now has a core group of 4 consultants conducting regular clinics. The clinic is accredited with the POETTS society as a centre for training in CPET.
He has been co-investigator for single centre trials based on the use of CPET. The clinic has also contributed to data for multi-centre portfolio trials run from UCL and Southampton and has been the source of abstracts for surgical and anaesthetic meetings. The clinicians involved in CPET have guided fellowships in risk stratification and High-Risk Surgery with emphasis on developing a full range of diagnostic skills as well as developing a research interest.
