Dr Kirk-Bayley has been a consultant in anaesthesia & intensive care at RSCH since 2009.
He is on the editorial board of the Journal of the Intensive Care Society (JICS), sits on the committees for the Intensive Care Society CUSIC (core ultrasound training intensive care) and the London Society of Regional Anaesthesia, is an examiner for the European Diploma of Intensive Care.
He has been principal investigator (PI) for many NIHR portfolio national multi-site and commercial trials. He is co-chair of the EPOCH trial advisory group and sits on the steering group for OPTIMISE II.
He is a national trainer for critical care ultrasound and regional anaesthesia, teaching on many courses around the country and runs a popular critical care imaging fellowship with a radiologist.
His interests are optimisation of peri-operative and intensive care for high-risk surgical patients and critical care ultrasonography (lung and echo).
He strongly believes in FOAMed, and FOAMus, publishing case examples regularly on Twitter as @PARADicmSHIFT
